Heading out to buy the kids some new clothes for school? Why not head over to the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre (OTCC) online shop and check out their stock.

The kids will love their new gear and you will be helping the OTCC to continue their work. 100 per cent of proceeds from all sales goes towards medical care for turtles at the Centre and conservation of Ontario’s turtles.

There’s a variety of hoodies, tee shirts, ball caps and bucket hats to choose from.

There’s great tee shirts feature the centre’s latest slogan, ‘Saving the world, one turtle at a time’. These shirts are screen-printed locally in Peterborough and made from 100 per cent cotton. They come in youth sizes XS to XL and in four great colours; forest green, violet, sapphire blue, and purple.

This new slogan is also available on warm and cozy pull over hoodies. Made of 50/50 cotton/polyester they are available in light pink, maroon, and navy blue.

The always popular ‘I brake for turtles’ graphic tee shirt comes in youth sizes XS to XL and in four great colours; forest green, purple, navy blue and sapphire blue. They are also screen-printed locally in Peterborough and made of 100 per cent cotton.

Ball caps made of soft 100 per cent cotton are presently available in pink, navy blue and orange. They feature the OTCC embroidered logo and are fully adjustable at the back of the cap.

Kids love bucket hats and parents will love these ones. Fully washable and featuring the OTCC embroidered logo, they are made from 100 per cent heavy organic cotton. They come in fun colours of yellow, red, navy blue, pastel pink, and stone.

Do your kids like their clothes extra large and extra roomy? The tees and pull-over hoodie are available in adult sizes and there is also a zippered hoodie as well.

Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre (home of Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre) is located at 1434 Chemong Rd., Unit 4. They are a registered charity whose goal is to protect and conserve Ontario’s native turtles and the habitat in which they live. They accomplish this by operating the hospital that treats, rehabilitates, and releases injured turtles, by performing extensive research in the field to further conservation initiatives, and by running a comprehensive education and outreach program. Join KWIC (Kawartha World Issues Centre) on Zoom for Action and Justice Creative Reflections on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Engage on topics of climate action and social justice using an art medium of your choice, such as paint, journaling, crayons, pastels, pencils, pens, clay, etc. Each session uses four prompts for you to reflect on, create your response, and then share if you wish. Electric City performs this Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Riverview Park and Zoo gazebo. They will perform classic big band swing tunes. This concert is the final concert of the free summer concert series sponsored by the Peterborough Utilities Group that have taken place every other Sunday during the summer months.

The concert is scheduled weather permitting. Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy the tunes. The Gazebo is surrounded by picnic tables and a grassy park area, a great place for a picnic. There are washrooms nearby.

OPIRG Peterborough and The Free Market are sponsoring a free market giveaway Saturday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Sadleir House, 751 George St. N. Rain date is Sept. 18. Donate your unwanted items and swap for new ones. Everything is free.
